Step-by-Step Instructions for Contact Lens Use

1. Wash Your Hands Thoroughly (1 minute).

Maintaining clean hands is critical to preventing eye infections. Wash your hands with soap and water, then dry them with a clean, lint-free towel.

2. Examine the lens (30 seconds).

Carefully remove the lens from its case and inspect it for dirt, tears, or debris. If you are using soft contact lenses, place the lens on your fingertips to check if it is inside out. Properly aligned lenses should have upward curving edges.

3. Position the Lens on Your Finger (15 seconds).

Rest the lens on your dominant hand's fingertip. Ensure it is properly aligned and not sticking to your fingers.

4. Hold Your Eyelids Open (15 seconds).

With your non-dominant hand, gently hold open your upper and lower eyelids to prevent blinking.

5. Insert the lens (10 seconds).

Look straight ahead or slightly upward and carefully place the lens on the white part of your eye. Blink slowly to let the lens settle. If the lens feels uncomfortable, remove it, rinse it with a contact lens solution, and try again.

6. Repeat for the other eye.

Follow the same process for the other eye, using the correct lens for each eye.
